2020 Turkey Seasons

Spring Seasons: The 2021 young sportsman hunt, for ages 6-16, is March 27-28, 2021. There is a bag limit of one bearded turkey per day, which counts towards the statewide spring season bag limit of three bearded birds.

The 2021 general spring season is April 3-May 16, 2021. The bag limit is three bearded turkeys, no more than one per day.

There are some exceptions. In the Mississippi Alluvial Valley (MAV) Unit, which consists of Dyer, Lake, Lauderdale, Shelby and Tipton counties, the spring season is open from April 17-May 16, with a young sportsman hunt on April 10-11. The bag limit in the MAV Unit is two bearded turkeys, no more than one per day.

Fall seasons

The 2020 fall archery hunt for turkey coincides with the fall archery hunt for deer: September 26-October 30, and November 2-6. 

The 2020 fall shotgun hunt for turkey is October 17-30. 

The bag limit for both hunts combined is one bearded turkey per county.

Fall turkey hunting is prohibited in the following counties: Bledsoe, Bradley, Crockett, Dyer, Giles, Haywood, Lake, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Lincoln, Loudon, McMinn, Monroe, Polk, Shelby, Tipton, Unicoi and Wayne.
